Clinics
The department runs public outpatient, multidisciplinary and subspecialty clinics at St Vincent’s Hospital Sydney. Public referrals follow the hospital’s established referral process; the referral form and how to send it are on the St Vincent’s Hospital ENT page. Private referrals go directly to the surgeon’s rooms.
Multidisciplinary clinics
Complex conditions are managed with colleagues from other specialties, so that investigation, treatment and follow-up are planned together.
Head and Neck
Patients with suspected or confirmed head and neck cancer are assessed in the Head and Neck Cancer Clinic. Treatment recommendations are made at a weekly multidisciplinary team meeting with The Kinghorn Cancer Centre: head and neck and reconstructive surgeons, radiation and medical oncologists, radiologists, pathologists, specialist nurses and allied health.
Pituitary
Every pituitary case is discussed at the pituitary multidisciplinary meeting with endocrinology, neurosurgery, radiology, pathology and radiation oncology before treatment is offered. Surgery is performed jointly by the department’s rhinology and skull base surgeons and neurosurgery, usually endoscopically through the nose.
Thyroid
Thyroid nodules, goitre, thyroid cancer and parathyroid disease are managed with endocrinology, radiology and pathology, so that investigation, surgery and follow-up are coordinated.
Sleep
Adults with snoring and obstructive sleep apnoea are assessed with the sleep physicians of St Vincent’s Hospital. Sleep studies, upper airway anatomy and treatments already tried are reviewed before surgery is considered.
ENT Outpatient Clinic
Public outpatient assessment and treatment across every area of otolaryngology: ear and hearing, nose and sinus, head and neck, voice and swallowing, and anterior and lateral skull base. Patients needing a multidisciplinary or subspecialty opinion are directed to the clinics on this page.
